How are meals packaged?

Meal Trays:

  • Material: Our meal trays are made from bagasse, or sugar cane fiber pulp, laminated in biodegradable PLA film. PLA film is an environmentally friendly material made from corn-based polylactic acid resin. The film might detach while heating, but this is not harmful.
  • Recycling: The trays are industrially compostable. If you have access to an industrial compost bin or organization, you can compost them there. If not, clean and recycle your trays with other paper materials. Please note that meal container seals are not recyclable or compostable and should be disposed of with regular garbage.

Meal Sleeves:

  • Material: Our meal tray sleeves are made from fully bleached fibers from hardwood and softwood.
  • Recycling: Recycling paper-based cartons is easy. Simply toss them in your recycling bin. Check with your community to see if paper cartons should be left as-is or crushed. Then, place the recycling container outside for pick-up on your designated day or drop off your recyclables at a local recycling center.
